Bath 2A four day self guided walking holiday that will give you a chance to relax and enjoy the gentle landscape and sleepy villages that lie in the beautiful countryside beyond the historic City of Bath. The walks take you along the Kennet and Avon Canal and you can visit historic Farleigh Hungerford Castle and National Trust Stourhead Gardens as well as following the Bath Skyline with wonderful views over the Georgian city.The route also takes you into the Longleat estate, the home of Lord Bath.

You will be centre based, staying at the Limpley Stoke Hotel a three star,Best Western hotel situated overlooking the Avon Valley four miles from the City of Bath.

Your own transport is required to enjoy this holiday.

Your Programme

Day 1: Arrive

Day 2: Limpley Stoke – Bath (E:8mls/13kms)

This walk starts along the Kennet & Avon Canal before you climb through Bathampton woods with spectacular views over the Georgian city of Bath. You drop down to rejoin the canal and finish at Bath Abbey giving you time to spend in the city.

Day 3:Stourhead – White Sheet Downs – Alfred’s Tower (M:9mls/14kms)

Step back in time on this walk where you visit an Iron Age Fort on the top of White Sheet Hill with wonderful views over the Wiltshire chalk downland and the Stourhead Estate.You then enter parkland to reach King Alfreds Tower, returning through woodland back to Stourhead Village.

Day 4: Bradford -on-Avon – Farleigh Hungerford (M:8.5mls/13.6kms)

A walk which starts at the historic market town of Bradford-on-Avon and includes waterside stretches along the banks of the River Frome, River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal. The walk takes you to the ‘English Heritage’ romantic medieval castle ruins at Farleigh Hungerford.On leaving the castle you continue over pastureland to the pretty village of Iford and return back to Bradford-on-Avon.

Day 5: Heaven’s Gate – Longleat Estate– Shearwater (M:9mls/14kms)

This interesting circular walk starts at Heaven’s Gate and gives you wonderful views over the Longleat Estate. You pass through the village of Horningsham. You then continue across pastureland and through woodland to arrive at the picturesque Shearwater Lake.
